[V3] Differences Between and How to Apply Engine File/Patch File
The download page in MyCompany provides installation files, engine files, and patch files by product.
This article describes the differences between engine files and patch files, as well as how to apply them.
Engine File
An engine is a collection of signatures for responding to malware.
You can use V3 to automatically update the engine in the internet-connected environment. But in the closed network environments where access to the AhnLab server is unavailable, you must use the engine file to manually update the V3 engine.
The engine file is updated whenever new malware information is added, and uploads a new file to MyCompany on a daily basis.
To Apply Engine File
1. Go to [Download] > [Engine File] in MyCompany to download the integrated V3 engine.
- [Go to MyCompany]
- You can download the engine upon logging in with a Corporate ID that owns the product.
2. Run the downloaded engine file on a device with V3 installed to update the engine.
To Check Engine Version
The engine version is displayed on the bottom right side of the V3 client.
Patch File
A patch file is a file that provides binaries to improve product features and fix existing bugs for V3.
You can use V3’s Auto Update to download the patch file along with the engine. But in the unstable network environment where access to AhnLab server is not possible, you must use a patch file to manually apply the patch.
To Apply Patch File
1. Go to [Download] > [Patch File] in MyCompany to download the appropriate patch file for the product.
2. The patch file will not display a separate window even when executed. Please wait for at least 3 to 5 minutes after running the file.
To View Patch File Application Results
You can check the product version to see if the patch file has been applied properly.
Click on [?] - [About] from the top right of V3 client, and check to see if the product version has changed.
