[LOG] Collecting Memory Dump with Forced Crash
This article describes how to cause a forced crash for collecting memory dump.

Prerequisite

To Cause a Crash
The following steps show how to cause a crash.
Please use the applicable method when the issue occurs.
Reboot with NotMyFault
You can use NotMyFault, a default tool provided by Microsoft, to cause a forced crash.
Follow the steps below to use it.
1. Download the NotMyFault tool from the URL below.
2. Unzip the file and launch the NotMyFault tool for your system.
- 32-bit: notmyfault.exe
- 64-bit: notmyfault64.exe
3. Select 'High IRQL fault (Kernel-mode)’ and then click the [Crash] button at the bottom to reboot your PC.
Click the Crash button when you need to generate the dump, reboot the PC, and then collect the dump file.
Reboot with Keyboard Dump
You can enter specific keys to force generation of a dump when the symptom occurs.
Follow the steps below to configure it.
1. Open the ‘Registry Editor’, and locate the following registry keys.
USB Keyboard
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\kbdhid\Parameters
PS/2 Keyboard
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\i8042prt\Parameters
2. Right-click on an empty space in the right panel of the Registry Editor. Then click [New] > [DWORD (32-bit) Value (D)].
3. Once a new REG_DWORD value is created, modify it as shown below.
- Value Name: CrashOnCtrlScroll
- Value Data: 1
4. Exit the Registry Editor and reboot the system.
5. Press the following keys when you need to generate the dump.
- While holding down Right Ctrl, press Scroll Lock (ScrLK) twice.
After the system reboots, collect the generated dump file.
